Hello lovelies, how are you all doing!? – its been a long time since I have written on here (whoops!). I have decided that I want to take my blog in a new direction in 2016 and instead of just posting this, that and whatever I want to have more structure and focus on specifically fashion and product reviews. Ideally I would love for this space to be an awesome place where all my followers can get some serious inspiration!

Now that I have addressed that; lets get on with this makeup review! In this post I am going to be reviewing the Yves Saint Laurent (YSL) Fusion Ink Foundation!

To begin with the basics, I had researched reviews on this product and had only heard good things about it! I heard that this foundation was excellent for oily skin (massive win for me!) and had a beautiful velvet finish (double win!). So when I finally went into the city this was the one beauty product I knew I wanted to try. I purchased this foundation from a David Jones Beauty Department YSL stand (http://bit.ly/1QlTJFK) but it can also be purchased online at MECCA (http://bit.ly/1RgqSrg). As this product is from a designer brand (Yves Saint Laurent) this foundation did come at a little bit of a price! costing me a total of $85 AUD (I know what your thinking – YIKES).  BUT… after a few uses of the product I found that I LOVE this foundation and that alone can totally justify the price and to be honest I will be happy to repurchase this product when I run out – keep on reading to find out exactly why ☺️😘

I find that the pros of this product far outweigh the cons, however, just to get it out of the way now and to end on a positive note; I’m going to start with the cons first 🙊

The first most obvious con of the YSL fusion ink foundation is that the price is very much on the high side, with majority of retail stores selling this product for around $85 to $89AUD. For most people this is a completely ridiculous price and even I had to think thoroughly about the product before picking up and purchasing it. To be honest, unless you have the money to splurge on this foundation you could probably most definitely live without it. Another problem I found with this foundation is that it only has a light to medium coverage, so if you are more a full coverage gal then you probably won’t like this product either (I personally do not mind this) – however I will also mention here that there is potential for this foundation to be built up to a more full coverage without looking cakey. The final con that I have for this product is probably the most significant to myself and its the that this foundation often splits around my nose and this can become quite annoying; I have found that a solution to this problem is to touch up with a concealer. I would also recommend using a decent primer with this foundation (I use Benefits Porefessional Primer) to avoid the foundation sticking to any dry areas of the skin.

NOW, lets move onto the PROS – and let me just tell you there is a lot of them!

Let me just say that I am INLOVE with this the YSL Fusion Ink Foundation regardless of the few cons I stated above! I find that this foundation goes above and beyond any other foundation I have tried and gives me the most absolute flawless complexion.

To begin with my pros, I firstly wanted to talk about the packaging! o.m.g this is the most elegant and luxurious packaging of a foundation I have ever seen! I love the gold cap lid with the YSL logo and how it perfectly compliments the matte glass bottle with black detailing. I also love that the foundation comes in gold boxing to match. Now that I have covered that, lets talk more about the actual foundation and the formula 😍 I am in absolute awe over the formula of the Fusion Ink Foundation, it is extremely light weight and makes you feel like you are wearing nothing on your skin! To put into context just how light weight this foundation is, I am going to compare it to the NARS all day luminous weightless foundation which is referred to as one of the best weightless foundations… well… let me just say the NARS foundation feels like you slapped a cake on your face compared to the YSL Fusion Ink! Continuing with the formula, this foundation is of a velvet stain which dries matte on the skin. It is amazing at blurring any imperfections on the face and it is extremely long lasting! I have really oily skin, and this can be super frustrating when trying to find foundations; I found that this foundation worked extremely well with my oily skin and my makeup stays on my face all day without any oil breaking through! This is a massive, massive win in my books and I seriously recommend any gals out there with oily skin to try this foundation if your budget allows it! 🙊

Another win for this product is its awesome colour selection and range of cool and warm tones! I have provided a photo below of the shades that they offer in the product and have also circled the shade that I use on myself which is B30 Almond (I have quite light olive skin). I find that all of the shades are more on the cool / pink tone rather then warm / yellow (which I would more prefer), however this has not been an issue for me when using this foundation.

I think one of my most favourite things about this foundation is the way it simply glides and blends out on the face. It take next to no effort to blend this foundation out flawlessly 👌🏼🙌🏼 I apply the foundation straight onto the face, around the forehead, cheeks, nose and chin with the wand that is provided and then taking a dense buffing brush (I use a EcoTools one) I make circular motions and blend outwards. I do two layers with this foundation and then I am ready to continue with the rest of my makeup!

And that brings me to the end of my product review of the YSL Fusion Ink Foundation. If you couldn’t tell I am really fond of this foundation, and I will most certainly be purchasing it again when I run out! 😍 I hope you all enjoyed the read!
